Did you know that when there is a fire in a nursing home, hospital or assisted living,the employees don’t evacuate the building like other businesses do? Nope. In fact, the employees identify where the fire is and run straight to it. Did you know when we have a tornado warning, the employees don’t immediately seek shelter? Nope. They go to the residents so they can get them to shelter. People in long-term care put themselves between the residents & any potential danger as a standard of practice. This includes COVID-19. Do you know why we do this? Because we love them,we want to protect them, keep them safe, & make sure they know they’re loved. They depend on us. We take the great honor of caring for them very seriously. This is why it’s so frustrating to see so many people not taking the shelter in place & social distancing seriously. We know you’re bored & that’s a bummer. We know you would love to go out to dinner & relax while being served. So would we. We know you miss your friends & want to see them. We do too. We want to go shopping, go to concerts, & take trips. But, there is nothing we want more than to keep the seniors we care for safe. The longer everyone disregards the recommendations of the CDC, the longer this will last. For the elderly, the weak, the people on the front lines, the people keeping us supplied, the small businesses who had to close their doors, for society….please stay home! ? Copy and Paste.
